Share your unforgettable Seabourn experiences and vote for the ships that became your luxury home at sea this year. On that occasion, the guests on board for the maiden voyage were all honored as the ship’s godparents, and a plaque with their names was permanently mounted on a wall inside the ship. Seabourn Odyssey was designed by the same architectural team, Petr Yran and Bjorn Storbraaten, who designed the original Seabourn ships. Outdoor equipment includes kayaks and Zodiac boats for landings along Antarctica's shoreline to visit penguin colonies.
Seabourn Cruises
They essentially are Odyssey-class ships with an additional deck for extra suites and public areas. Seabourn is a relatively small cruise line with just six ships, but you'll find a wide array of Seabourn cruise destinations. The line is known for regularly moving its vessels around the world to offer a diverse lineup of itineraries everywhere from North America and Europe to Asia and Australia.
World-class dining and culinary experiences

On the return to Barbados, the itinerary is a bit different, with stops at Tortola, Anguilla, St. Kitts, Guadeloupe, St. Lucia and Grenada. A second, 39-night segment of the same world cruise from Taipei to Singapore will bring stops in Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. Seabourn destinations visited on such trips typically include Laem Chabang (the port for Bangkok) and Ko Kood, Thailand; Sihanoukville, Cambodia; and Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Halong Bay in Vietnam.
Former fleet vessels
The vessel was eventually purchased by Royal Viking Line (1972-founded/1998-defunct) and launched in 1992 as "Royal Viking Queen". To dine at The Grill by Thomas Keller on Seabourn Ovation, guests must make a reservation beforehand, but there’s no extra charge. The decor and ambiance harken back to 1960s steakhouses, complete with leather banquettes and black-and-white photos. Classic dishes such as shrimp cocktail, blue cheese wedge salads, lobster thermidor, New York strip steak, and eggplant parm are served with white glove service. Additionally, guests can choose from a comprehensive list of premium wines, including expensive bottles of Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Brunello, for an additional cost.
Penthouse Suite
Notable voyages include two 21-day roundtrips from Buenos Aires departing on December 16, 2025, and February 26, 2026, along with a 28-day sailing from Rio de Janeiro to Buenos Aires commencing on November 11, 2025. Commencing in late March 2025, Seabourn Pursuit embarks on 20 voyages spanning from 10 to 20 days. The voyages commence in the South Pacific, featuring pristine coral reefs, diverse marine life, and cultural interactions. Both ships explore remote corners of the world, from the South Pacific and Antarctica to the Arctic (Norway, Iceland, Greenland, Canada).
Intuitive, personalized service
Thanks to the vessel's modest size, housing 225 suites, she can adeptly traverse the intricate fjords in Southeast Alaska. This enables guests to explore noteworthy sites like Hubbard Glacier and Tracy Arm/Endicott Arm, in addition to prominent port towns like Ketchikan and Sitka. The cruises also incorporate Seabourn's Ventures by Seabourn program, offering expedition-style excursions such as kayaking, Zodiac cruising, and hiking for those interested.
THE CLUB
Rounding out the public spaces are a smaller version of Seabourn's spa and wellness center and a bar and lounge called The Club. Seabourn Pursuit and Seabourn Venture both have Seabourn's signature Seabourn Square area that offers snacks, coffee and a guest services desk. Each offers a version of the main restaurant called The Restaurant and the more casual The Colonnade eatery. The Encore-class ships also have a small but sumptuous spa and wellness center with five treatment rooms, a thermal area, a salon and a fitness area.
While the evening dress code is supposedly enforced at 6 p.m., no one condemns you if you're still watching sail-away after 6 in the clothes you wore all day. However, try to enter The Restaurant in the wrong attire, and you will be sent away to change. We even heard of someone being turned away for wearing too casual shoes -- despite shoes not being addressed in Seabourn's official dress code descriptions. Fellow passengers are a mixture of North Americans, Brits, Australians and other Europeans, including a fair few German-speakers.

Seabourn is at the top of the luxury cruise game with intuitive service, superb cuisine, relatively inclusive extras (no charge for cocktails or coffees), and an atmosphere that is elegant but unpretentious. Decor-wise, the Encore-class ships have a more yacht-like look than the older Odyssey-class vessels, with interiors created from top-to-bottom by well-known hospitality designer Adam Tihany. Tihany didn't work on the earlier vessels, which have a more Nordic-style sleekness. As a result, the Encore-class ships can hold 600 passengers, based on double occupancy, while the Odyssey-class ships are designed to carry up to 458 passengers.
Seabourn Pursuit’s 132 all-balcony ocean-facing suites in nine categories, from the entry-level veranda suites to the two-bedroom, two-bathroom Grand Wintergarden Suites. As the ship’s fleet of 24 zodiacs is stored on the top deck, Seabourn Pursuit doesn’t have a typical pool deck. Instead, it has a small infinity pool and a pair of hot tubs on Deck 5 at the back of the ship as well as a couple of hot tubs on Deck 9.
Designed with meticulous attention to detail and with the Seabourn traveler in mind, Seabourn Pursuit's luxurious suites define elegance and comfort. Your personal Suite Host and Suite Attendant are at your service for any extra needs, always with a warm and heartfelt smile. Seabourn is honored to see our fleet nominated in Condé Nast Traveler's 2024 Reader's Choice Awards.
On the plus side, the Encore-class ships have several additional hideaways for outdoor lounging tucked into little nooks at their fronts and backs. A revolutionary concept when it first debuted on Seabourn Odyssey, Seabourn Square might best be described as the ship's living room. Filled with comfortable seating, workstations with computers, a puzzle table and cases lined with books, it's a multipurpose space that is part lounge, part cafe and part library. Both space-per-passenger ratios and staff-to-passenger ratios are measurements used as shorthand for the luxury level of a vessel. Among cruise lines that focus on high-priced luxury trips, Seabourn has one of the simplest fleets. Our ultra-luxury purpose-built ships, Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit are your richly-appointed base camps.

Bridge and trivia teams stay the same throughout the voyage, allowing friendships to form, dinners to be planned and cards to be exchanged. Other eateries include The Patio for al fresco lunch on fine days, Sushi in The Club and Seabourn Square for specialty coffees, pastries, sandwiches and snacks. There is also 24-hour in-suite dining, which includes dinner from The Restaurant menu served course by course. In 2001, Carnival bought out the Norwegian shareholders, and Seabourn's parent company became a wholly owned subsidiary of Carnival. That summer, Seabourn Goddess I and Seabourn Goddess II were sold to Seabourn's original founder, Atle Brynestad, in order to establish his own cruise line SeaDream Yacht Club.
